“You lived your entire life feeling like half of you was missing. Fight for the missing part. Fight for this.”

Emory Fae has abandoned everything she thought she knew about her previous life on Earth. Stepping up to her role as Queen of Kiero she makes a startling sacrifice- feigning her allegiances to Adair Stratton, the man who murdered her parents and casted Kiero into ruin. Emory’s memories slowly piece together, and she soon realizes the Mad King may not be all he seems– and the man who was once best friend, may be fighting beneath the surface.

With the King’s attention on her, can she buy Black Dawn Rebellion enough time to recuperate their forces? And when the times comes, will she be able to kill Adair, ending his tyranny and rising herself as the rightful Queen? Fighting to hide her secret, Emory navigates the brutal trials of the Mad King, trying not to lose herself in the process.

Sequel to Heir of Lies, now a bestselling series, the sparks are ignited, as Emory learns the cost of freedom, and her heritage. Will the rebels unite in time? A sinister force has spread across the land, stripping everyone bare- their betrayals, their secrets, their intentions. But above all, what will their decisions cost? By refusing to give in to the darkness, will Emory rise as Queen?

Queen to Ashes is the next installment to Heir of Lies and it follows our main characters Emory, as she gets accustomed to her life after that ending and stepping up to her role as a Queen; and Adair, the now tyrant king as he tries to hurt everything she loves. It’s a story about betrayal, second chances, making the best of your situation, strength, confidence, secrets, living with difficult choices and a shit ton of heavy topics.

First, I love the tone of the second book more than the first one. It was much heavier and addressed a lot of heavy topics and the Characters were forced to grow up fast. It had mature tone and the writing style absolutely complimented the tone of the story and the characters as well. I really loved the multiple point of views and the change in pov gave it a fresh perspective evey time.

“The darkness seeped in from every angle, and her mind was the target.

Second, I absolutely loved the Characters! There were so many things that happened and so much betrayal and so many new relationship and revelations! Despite everything, the Characters had strength and the decisions made held so much weight and there were so much at stake! This book is by no means a small one! But I finished this book in two days! The story sucks you in and makes you read more. I loved that effect the book had on me.

“She wouldn’t become his weapon. She would become his nightmare.”

Now coming to the story line and the Character development, I absolutely loved reading about Emory and she grew so much as a Character!! Everybody had to go through so much hell and the way they all came back stronger was such a delight to read about! Brokk and Adair were next with their morally grey and layered Character development! Ecen though you should hate someone in this book, they really tried to right their wrongs and tried to undo their mistakes made through their betrayal (Ahem Ahem I don’t want to spoil anything you guyss..) The pacing was super fast and it was a good thing for me, but some might feel different. There were so much action and things happened every damn chapter and made me tear at so many places!

“The world was constructed into splintered shards. A domino effect of decisions, of mistakes, of success, of heartbreak, of loneliness. Of fear.

The author did an amazing job making me feel like crap after that ending though. Now what I am going to do is go read the next book in the series and just try to calm my bleeding beating heart. Overall, this book was an amazing continuation to the first book Heir of Lies, and I recommend continuing this series even though the first book might feel a little different. It had amazing writing, Characters and such good development! I can’t wait to continue the series!!
